Alone in a Crowd<\/h4>\n
\nSome believe loneliness can\u2019t flourish
\namong the swaggering masses,
\nbut to understand emptiness,
\none must first accept the sly deception
\nof numbers.
\n <\/div>\n
\nQuantity doesn\u2019t guarantee camaraderie,
\na crowd is a mob with insecurities;
\nquestions you\u2019d rather not answer.<\/div>\n
\nA lifetime of experiences
\nteaches bitter lessons,
\nlearn to appreciate the peace and
\npower of solitude\u2014
\n 
\na gift of no rebuttals, no rejection,
\nno rancor; no repression.
\n <\/div>\n
\nEmbrace this compromised companion,
\nthis self-inflicted harmony, this sweet,
\nnoncritical multitude of one.
\n <\/div>\n

Message to My Granddaughters<\/h4>\n
\nWho will win your heart someday
\nwhen you feel your wings; hear the wind
\ntelling you to fly?
\n <\/div>\n
\nWho will make you smile on those days
\nwhen all you want to do is cry?
\n <\/div>\n
\nIs there a method, a magic message hidden
\nin your dreams to help you reveal the one
\nthat holds the key to your heart?
\n <\/div>\n
\nDo not be in a rush, don\u2019t push your
\nuncertainty one way or the other\u2014
\n <\/div>\n
\nset your intuition free; wait for the day
\na first hello makes you catch your breath;
\ntrip and skip a step.
\n <\/div>\n
\nThat will be the time to listen to his words;
\nlet all that you know, all you\u2019ve become,
\ndecide if his words ring true; if his eyes
\nlight up and sparkle when he looks at you\u2014
\n <\/div>\n
\nthat look that says he will
\nalways protect you,
\ntake your place when you are in danger;
\ndie for you if need be,
\n <\/div>\n
\nsmile upon his face.
