\n

Awakening<\/p>\n

world revolves and patterns itself
\nto mirror the outside,
\ncompletely unaware of the inner strength and peace,
\noffering itself to be taken into one\u2019s heart.
\nthe wisdom and patience
\nall too often lost
\nin the babble and flexing of the ego,
\nentrenching and altering the beauty of life.
\nwitnessed in the magical moments,
\nteeming with life-giving and spiritual bounty
\nreflective of our God in heaven.
\ngames and role-playing afford
\nlittle consolation to the all surpassing
\nand unquenchable life offered without
\nany tricks or complicated venues.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

By the Bay<\/p>\n

shoal barrier and sea breeze shifts,
\nintensifying and immersing the wave\u2019s impact
\non the craggy contoured coastline.
\nrhythm and repetition carries,
\nmelodically inscribing and imprinting,
\neach wave to memory through complex circumvolution.
\nocean foam and waves refresh,
\nspewing and crashing water together
\non the jagged shoreline. pebbled beaches
\nmottle the sandy landscape. rocky
\nterrains cloak and cover with giant boulders,
\ninterspersing, entrenching stability
\nand solidity along the bay\u2019s entrance.
\nwaves monitor and mark, disregarding time
\nand slapping the beach with drunkard
\nand drenching promise of God\u2019s eternal measure.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Steven J. Jacobson<\/strong> is a poet living in Hopkins, Minnesota.
