\n

Dolphin pierces early fog
\nlike a circus dog
\nthrough a flaming hoop.<\/p>\n

I’m up early,
\nenveloped in that sea chill,
\nawaiting tropical morning burn-off.<\/p>\n

Gale’s still in the cabin,
\nsipping coffee,
\nimmersed in the porthole version of events.<\/p>\n

More dolphins join in.
\nThrough leaden surface,
\nI can see what appears to be
\nan underwater nimbus cloud.
\nIt’s a school of fish.
\nThe dolphins are herding them
\nlike border collies
\ninto each other’s vacant mouths.<\/p>\n

They leap, they spin, they pivot,
\nthey skim the waves like jet skis.
\nSea World’s only half the story.<\/p>\n

My heart takes to the whitecaps.
\nMy goose-bumps break
\nover those sleek gray bodies.<\/p>\n

Breakfast is served
\nand many are the ways of feasting.
\nEntertainment from the deck
\nis survival in the water.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
