There\u2019s music, if you listen,
\nWhen the wind plays on a wire,
\nHow it shivers on a high note
\nLike the best from any choir.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a song left in the leaves
\nOf cottonwoods on the trail,
\nJust for riders checking wire,
\nChecking every post and nail.<\/p>\n

That lost song is always heard,
\nAs though its partner is the wind,
\nA cowboy duet in its joy;
\nOh, great bonding being twinned.<\/p>\n

And when the rider hears no song,
\nHears no wire in the breeze,
\nSilence tells him it\u2019s gone wrong
\nAnd his horse goes ill at ease.<\/p>\n

Where wind and wire are music mates,
\nA cowboy and his horse are matched,
\nTight as gloves upon the hands,
\nTo make sure a fence gets patched.<\/p>\n

The wind can whistle up a tune
\nAnytime it feels the urge,
\nAnd cowboys riding fence lines
\nKnow where the two best merge.<\/p>\n

For it\u2019s the cowboy and his horse,
\nPerhaps the cattle in a lea,
\nWho hear the best of musicals,
\nWind and wire\u2019s soliloquy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
